Sunday is Naked Hiking Day Every year on the first day of summer, a group forms to celebrate the summer solstice by nude hiking on the Appalachian Trail and other locations. This year, Naked Hiking Day falls on Father's Day. One hiker cited passages from Thoreau and other writers who suggest that being nude outdoors elevates one's appreciation of nature. However, there are some that aren't thrilled that they will encounter nude hikers this Sunday. Last year, eight hikers received disorderly conduct warnings after they admitted to being nude even though they were clothed by the time officers arrived. Yet the hikers say they go out of their way to avoid being seen and just try to enjoy the experience. Read more at Naked Hiking Day. Calendar Girls Take the Stage A British play based on the popular movie Calendar Girls gets an all-new cast including Jerry Hall, former model and wife of rock star Mick Jagger. The stage show is based on the true story of the Women's institute members who posed nude for charity. A portion of the play's booking fee, royalties and proceeds will be donated to leukemia research, the charity for which the real calendar girls raised funds. Read more at Calendar Girls.
